The Short Answer
A dumpster rental costs $250 to $900 or more for a week nationally, depending on the size, and weight and extra days move the final bill. Those are national averages, not Punta Gorda quotes. A price for your job comes from the size, the debris, the rental days and the weight allowance, and we write it down before you order.
Dumpster Rental Prices by Size
Dumpster prices climb with the size, and the table below lists Dropcurb's national weekly ranges with the weight usually included.
| Size | National range (7 days) | Weight usually included |
|---|---|---|
| 10 yard | $250 to $450 | 1 to 2 tons |
| 20 yard | $300 to $550 | 2 to 3 tons |
| 30 yard | $400 to $700 | 3 to 5 tons |
| 40 yard | $500 to $900 or more | 4 to 6 tons |
Each size has its own page with dimensions and jobs, starting with the 10 yard dumpster and the 20 yard dumpster.
Fees That Raise the Final Bill
Extra fees raise a dumpster bill past its base price, and Dropcurb lists the common ones nationally. Overweight loads cost about $50 to $150 per extra ton. Extra days past the rental window cost about $10 to $30 per day. A blocked pickup costs about $75 to $150, an overfilled container about $50 to $200, and a placement permit about $25 to $150 or more depending on the city. A quote that lists all of these in writing is the one to compare.
What Charlotte County Adds to Dumpster Cost
Charlotte County sets the disposal rate under every load. The Charlotte County Landfill charges $49.88 per ton for waste generated in the county, $99.74 per ton for waste generated outside it, and $5.00 as the minimum for a county load. Construction and demolition debris must come with the building permit number of the origin site, and a load without a valid number is charged the out-of-county rate. On a 5-ton load the difference is $249.40 against $498.70.
How to Keep Your Dumpster Cost Down
Keeping the cost down means controlling weight and days. First, pick the smallest container that fits the job, because overage costs more than a size up on volume-heavy debris but less than a size up on dense debris. Second, tarp the load before rain, since wet roofing and wood weigh more at the scale. Third, have the permit number ready for construction debris. Finally, finish inside the rental window, because extra days add up.
